CASA of the 8th Judicial District

Cheers For CASA

Saturday, March 23, 2019

About the Event:

CASA of the 8th Judicial District will present a unique wine tasting event with participation of at least 75 people.  The evening will also have a unique Jewelry Cupcake event, a 50/50 drawing, a Silent Auction, door prizes, and much more.  Proceeds will benefit CASA of the 8th Judicial District, a local non-profit agency that serves and advocates for local child victims of abuse, neglect, and human trafficking.  The evening will begin with a social time.  This will be followed by the tasting event and voting.  At the end of the evening all drawings and winners will be announced and receive their prizes.

How it Works:

To participate in the blind tasting, Teams of 2-3 people will bring three bottles of the same wine.  Upon check in, the bottles are bagged and numbered for tasting. All participants will vote for their favorite. At the end of the night, votes will be counted, and a winner will be announced and awarded with 1 bottle of wine from each team.  Tickets are $50 per team or $60 at the door.  A team is two or three people. Food will be included.

What We Hope to Accomplish:

CASA of the 8th Judicial District is 100% funded by grants and donations.  Our goal is to be able to raise $8,000.  This funding would enable our local program to recruit, train, support, and supervise additional CASA Volunteer Advocates.  CASA of the 8th Judicial District's mission is to advocate for the best interests of the abused, neglected, and/or trafficked children in the court system.  We strive to help children have safe, permanent, and nurturing homes.  CASA Volunteer Advocates make sure the children do not get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system or languish in inappropriate group or foster homes. CASA Volunteer Advocates stay with each case until it is closed. For many abused/neglected children, their CASA Volunteer Advocate will be the one constant adult presence in their lives. Independent research demonstrates that children with a CASA Volunteer Advocate are less likely to spend time in long-term foster care and 70% less likely to reenter care.  Children with a CASA Volunteer Advocate are four times more likely to graduate from high school.
